Tips for Longer Lasting Flowers

Use a Clean Vase

Make sure the vase or jar that you place your bouquet in is clean.

Keep Foliage Above Water Level

Keep leaves above water level to prevent bacteria in water.

Trim Stems

Trim stems at an angle, re-trimming every few days.

Change Water

Change out the water in your vase/jar every 2-3 days. Using filtered water will also help keep your flowers fresh.

Keep Away From Sun and/or Ripe Fruit

Keep your bouquet away from sunlight and/or ripe fruit. The cooler the space you keep your flowers in, the better!

Discard Spent Flowers

When you notice a flower in your arrangement starting to wilt, droop or discolor, remove it.

Add Honey!

I performed an experiment on my flowers last summer and noticed if I dropped a tablespoon or so of our honey in the water with my flowers they lasted several days longer than ones with plain water.
